Solar energy technology is technically proven and draws on an inexhaustible primary energy resource. Carbon emissions and greenhouse gas impacts are not there.

Solar PV technology collects and converts solar radiation directly into electricity. Solar PV generation systems collect solar energy as light to convert into DC electricity generating plant. This generated DC Power Is converted into conventional AC power and can be fed into the grid at appropriate Grid Voltage.

250 MW (ISO) Gas based GMR Barge Power Plant, owned by GMR Energy Limited, is a private-owned power plant located in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. It is an environment friendly gas based plant in India�??s first and the World�??s largest combined cycle power plant on a single barge.

Plant initially was operated on Naphtha and later changed to on Natural Gas operation. Gas Turbine Generator Mitsubishi Japan, Steam Turbine Generator by ABB Sweeten Generators are 11KV, 50Hz, 2Pole, 300RPM with air-cooled brushless excitation, synchronous type and totally enclosed. Gas Turbine Generator Transformers of 11KV/ 11KV/ 220KV, 120MVA, Steam Turbine Generator transformers 11KV/ 220KV, 70MVA and Unit Auxiliary Transformers 11KV/ 6.6KV, 18MVA installed in Barge.

This Barge is classification to International Rules & Standards with a certificate of ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) and having valid Certificate as on date. This barge designed with standard Wind velocity of 160KM/hour and Tidal variation in mooring basin is +2.61Meters to -1.5Meters. Barge is unaffected by landslides and earthquakes.

Grid connected system is connected to utility grid and feeds power back into the grid. The system consists of pv panel connected to grid tie inverter. The power produced by the pv system can be either supplied to loads or fed back into grid when the pv system output is greater than the load demand. When the pv system output is less than the load demand (e.g. At night), energy will be consumed from the utility grid. Solar grid connected system varies in size from residential to solar power stations.

Since last two years, Thermax has seen a growing no. of opportunities in the International Market for various fuels, mainly Biomass based. Therefore, the Power Zdivision of thermax has made a foray into the market and hence a total separate dedicated team has been put into place to look after EPC Supply & Supervision.
Currently we are executing a project at Philippines for a captive cogeneration unit.

7.5 MW Power plant was installed in the year 20011-12. The plant is not in operation since 2013-14 due to the high price of Gas making the production presently economically nonviable.

13 MW Biomass Based Power Plant located at Shendra MIDC, Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India. The plant was commissioned in Dec 2008 and plant operation has been discontinued since June 2015 and major overhaul of turbine and auxiliaries were completed in FY 16.

The power plant utilises Biomass (Chipped Cotton, Maize Bhutta, Soya Husk, Bagasse) or Coal as fuel.
