It is believed Coconut originated in the Pacific Islands, however, today its grown in all tropical countries. 7 of the top 10 coconut producing countries are located in the region of Southeast Asia.. The coconut, as we know it, arrives without the outer covers, which are removed at the origin. Thus the coconuts, which are commercialized, arrive with only the "central bone". The taste of the pulp is reminiscent of the nut, while coconut milk has a bittersweet flavor. There are different types of coconut trees, Giants, Dwarves and Hybrids. The composition of the coconut varies as it cools. Water is its main component followed by fats. Its caloric value is the highest of all fruits. It contains fiber, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, folic acid, vitamin B6, E and C. Coconut water is considered a natural isotonic drink. Our Coconut are sourced from growers in Thailand, India, Philippines and Indonesia. To find out more about our Coconut please contact sales@crescoproduce.com.

Blackcurrant is a berry of translucent pulp with red or green tones and bittersweet taste. The fruit is small, of black-blue color and spherical shape, with an intense taste when completely ripe. This berry is covered with hair and its pulp contains multiple small seeds. These fruits are not loose; they grow in clusters. The Blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum, belonging to the botanical family of Saxigfragaceae) is the shrub where currants grow. In English its name means â??berry of gooseâ?? because long ago it was the main ingredient of a sauce that went together with goose dishes. Blackcurrant is used to make liquors, wine, juice and jelly. Blackcurrants are extremely rich in sugars, organic acids and vitamin C. The quantity of vitamin C in 250 ml of currants is three times superior to that contained in a small orange. Blackcurrants are excellent laxatives. They must be consumed in a short time, otherwise, they will spoil. In the fridge, at 4ºC of temperature, they last for one week. The output is used in the food industry that uses Blackcurrants for processing syrups, jelly and refreshing drinks. A characteristic liquor is made by means of macerating them in brandy and adding syrup. They are also used in chemists to improve flavors and as a source of food coloring. Our Blackcurrants are sourced from growers in China, Japan, Poland, UK and Ukraine. To find out more about our Blackcurrants please contact sales@crescoproduce.com.
The Kiwi is a fruit of ovoid shape, of variable size and covered by a thin, brown, slightly hairy skin. It may be 4 to 7.5cm long, and 3.5 to 5cm wide. The weight ranges from 30 to150g, according to variety, climatic conditions, and the culture system. The pulp may be of different green tonalities according to the variety. It is also tender, juicy and bittersweet in flavor. It presents numerous small, edible black seeds. The color of the pulp and the delicate flavor, somehow reminiscent of the grape, strawberry, and pineapple, make Kiwifruit very pleasant. Kiwi is consumed as fresh fruit, in fruit salads, salads or as garnish for different dishes. In order to consume it as fruit, it can be peeled or cut in half and eaten with a spoon. It contains an enzyme called actinidine that degrades proteins, reason why this fruit is used to soften the meat before cooking and thus reduce to the time for baking, rubbing the pulp of the fruit. Moreover, the actinidine prevents the coagulation of the jelly and it is the responsible of the bitter taste of some dairy products when they are mixed with Kiwi. Kiwis are also cooked, tossed with butter, used as a bittersweet sauce or included as garnish for meat dishes. Jam, sherbets, iced drinks, confectionery products and liquors with or without alcohol are also made of this fruit. Kiwis represent an excellent source of vitamin C, almost twice the content of some citruses. They are also rich in minerals like potassium, iron and calcium. Kiwis are found all the year round because the different producing country take over the harvesting periods of each other: from mid May until the end of November, in New Zealand; the rest of the year in the Mediterranean countries, Chile and in California and Australia too. It is a product that has undergone a commercial development in the last few years, thanks to an excellent marketing campaign carried out by New Zealand. Our Kiwi are sourced from growers in Chile, New Zealand, Greece, Italy and Japan. To find out more about our Kiwi please contact sales@crescoproduce.com.
