Zircon, also known as zircon silicate (ZrSiO4), is found in ancient mineral sand deposits. In the form of crystal sands, zircon is typically brown, but could also vary from colourless to yellow-golden, pink and red to blue and green.
The majority of zircon sand is mined in the African continent particularly Nigeria. Current annual global production is in excess of one million tonnes. Almost half of the zircon produced globally is consumed by China, with other significant consuming regions including Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific and India.
With our robust warehouse in Lagos the Southern part of Nigeria we can export 1000MT of this product per month.
INTRODUCTION:
Zircon sand, also known as zircon, is a mineral composed mainly of zirconium silicate (ZrSiO4). Pure zircon sand is a colorless transparent crystal.
FORM OF ZIRCON
ZIRCON SAND
ZIRCON POWDER
APPLICATION:
To be used in Ceramics. Opacity, whiteness, wear resistance and moisture resistance make it a key component of ceramic tiles, sanitary ware and tableware.
To be used in refractory industry to protect the interior of high-temperature furnaces
To be used in foundries and precision casting processes for the casting of metals and alloys into various products due to the thermal stability, high melting point and abrasion resistance provided by zircon.
Another important application is the production of a broad range of zirconia chemicals, which in turn, have a diverse range of end uses including ceramics, refractory, catalysts, coating electronics and biomedical related products.
Some zircon is used as an x-ray filter and as a polishing agent in the production of silicon wafers for the manufacture of semiconductor components such as integrated circuits (computer chips).

Silica Sand * Silica Sand is a type of sand usually available in the form of quartz. It is a hard and crystalline form of mineral components. * Silica sand is the most abundant mineral with the purity more than 99.0%. It is the preferred choice of consumption for various industrial purposes.
Micro silica also known as fume, is an amorphous (non-crystalline) polymorph of silicon dioxide, silica. It is an ultrafine powder collected as a by-product of the silicon and ferrosilicon alloy production and consists of spherical particles with an average particle diameter of 150 mm. The main field of application is as pozzolanic for high performance concrete because of its extreme fineness and high silica.
Applications :
Silica is added to Portland cement concrete to improve its properties, in particular its compressive strength, bond strength, and abrasion resistance. These improvements stem from both the mechanical improvements resulting from addition of a very fine powder to the cement paste mix as well as from the pozzolanic reactions between the silica fume and free calcium hydroxide in the paste.
Advantages :
Addition of silica also reduces the permeability of concrete to chloride ions, which protects the reinforcing steel of concrete from corrosion, especially in chloride-rich environments such as coastal regions and those of humid continental roadways and runways (because of the use of deicing salts) and saltwater bridges.
Zircon sand finds applications to be used in ceramics, refractory, foundry, electronics, zirconium compound, and other fields, it is also used in the preparation of nuclear reactor structural materials and control rod with zirconium and hafnium as irreplaceable raw minerals making it a strategic mineral.
It is used in ceramics as a major end-user, zircon sand is used as a glaze emulsion is ceramics such as glazed floor tiles, wall tiles, sanitary ware, and tableware.
Properties of Zircon Sand
Zircon is crystal and shows the structure of the quarter column. It usually occurs with ilmenite rutile, sillimanite, etc. in beach sand and is refined by water, electricity, and magnetic beneficiation process.
Pure zircon is a colorless and translucent crystal. It appears yellow, orange, red, and brown with different origins. Its hardness is 7.8, specific gravity 4.6-4.71, refractive index 1.93-2.01, and the melting point of 2550 C.
