You can either shake out any loose particles by hand or by setting the filter (pockets-up) over a big garbage can and lightly smacking the outside of the pockets with your hand. 2. Spray water through the exterior of the pockets with a low-pressure faucet or garden hose so that it drains into the middle and out of the pockets at the frame opening. Repeat until it's clean. 3. Allow the filter to completely drain of all water. The filter shouldn't be put back in until it is totally dry. 4. Detergent is not needed.
