Details:some time ago, growers switched to sphagnum peat, a fern that is broken down through a process of several years of ageing. Sphagnum peat is found in the soils of the forests in countries like canada, usa, ireland to name a few and exported to countries all over the world. The peat is inert, which means that it is well balanced because it has natural characteristics that help it retain nutrition and water. These characteristics of peat help growers maintain uniform fertilizer and watering schedules for their plants in every batch they grow. This method has been used for the past 3 to 4 decades and now the growing concern is the depletion of the peat bogs and destruction of some unique flora and fauna. Recently, many countries have quantity restrictions on the exploitation of peat bogs. These countries plan to introduce a complete ban on peat trade in the next few years. This has become a serious problem for growers who have been using peat as the only growing medium. The best or superior alternative they have discovered to sphagnum peat is coco peat which is a by product of the coconut fibre industry. Coco peat is both renewable and eco friendly. Coco peat has recently been widely recognized as the superior growing medium in which tomatoes, roses, ornamental plants, other vegetables and lawn grass can be grown. The horticulture industry often calls this substrate coco-peat or coir-peat. It is know by many other alternative names. Coco peat, also known as coir pith, is the fibrous material that is obtained from the outer husk of coconut shells. It is increasingly being used as a growing medium in horticulture and agriculture due to its many beneficial properties. Coco peat is high in nutrients and organic matter, improves soil structure, water retention, and provides aeration to the soil so it is widely used for Soil amendment, Seed starting, Hydroponics, Potting mix and Animal bedding.
Coco peat / Coir Blocks are made up of 100% natural and organic coconut fiber husk particles.Coco peat acts as a biological control against plant pathogenic fungi. Coir peat or coir dust can hold large quantities of water, just like a sponge. It is used as a replacement for traditional peat in soil mixtures or as a soil-less substrate for plant cultivation. A single Coir Peat Block is hydrated by adding water which will slowly expand to up to 80-85 liters of coco coir growing medium Specifications Coco Peat Blocks (Washed/Unwashed) Size - 30X30X15 CM Moisture -
Coconut coir fiber generally has a golden color after cleaning and is hence, often called The Golden Fibe. Mature coir fibers are stronger than most of the other natural fibers such as cotton and flax. The coconut pith is also called peat or coconut dust. It is the material that binds together the coconut fibers in the outer shell of the coconut. Washed pith is a good choice as a growth medium in soil-less conditions for agricultural and horticultural purposes.
Coir naturally supports root growth while deterring fungal growth. Its antifungal qualities shield plant roots from fungal root infections including Phytophthora and Pythium. It is a fantastic option for those who are just getting started with hydroponics because of all of these features. For easy transport and shipping, the coir briquettes are manufactured from coir and compressed into a brick form. It takes a lot of work to optimize this growing medium. Initially, the coconut husks are removed, and then the fibers are loosened and softened by soaking in water. After that, they are taken out of the water and allowed to dry for many days. The fibers are separated and treated after drying. The bricks that we offer are made by compressing. Features: Briquette can be used as a soil amendment to improve the water retention ability of your soil . Provide additional nutrients to your plants. They can help sensitive seedlings germinate more effectively. Briquettes are resistant to bacteria, mold, and fungi. Briquettes are also a great way to add extra organic matter to your compost pile. Briquettes are also a great alternative to soil, as they are lighter and easier to transport. They are environmentally friendly.
