Polished 304 Stainless Pipe is a standard stainless pipe that has been polished to a 180 Grit Brushed Finish on its exterior for cosmetic and ornamental applications. Unlike the dull mill finish of standard stainless pipe, this polished stainless steel pipe allows your projects to have a more finished look with excellent corrosion resistance making it ideal for handrails, architectural design, restaurant and store fixtures, trade show displays, marine components and more. Just like standard stainless pipe it has an interior weld seam.
Stainless steel tube is a hollow long strip steel made of stainless-steel material. Because of its excellent corrosion resistance, it is mainly widely used in petroleum, chemical, medical, food, light industry, mechanical instruments and other industrial transportation pipelines and mechanical structural components. In addition, when the bending and torsion strength are the same, the weight is light, so it is also widely used in manufacturing mechanical parts and engineering structures, but also commonly used in the field of furniture decoration.
Stainless steel pipe is divided into seamless pipe and welding pipe according to the production mode, seamless steel pipe can be divided into hot rolling pipe, cold rolling pipe, cold pulling pipe and extrusion pipe, etc., cold pulling and cold rolling is the secondary processing of steel pipe; welding pipe is divided into straight welding pipe and spiral welding pipe.
Stainless steel pipes can be divided into round tubes and different tubes according to the cross-sectional shape. The form tubes have rectangular tubes, rhomboid tubes, ellipse tubes, hexagonal tubes, octagonal tubes and various cross-sectional asymmetric tubes.
It can be divided into Austenitic Stainless Steel Tube Ferritic Stainless Steel Tube Martensitic Stainless Steel Tube and Duplex Stainless Steel Tube by the type of stainless steel.
316 is the standard molybdenum-bearing grade, second in importance to 304 amongst the austenitic stainless steels. The molybdenum gives 316 better overall corrosion resistant properties than 304, particularly higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. It has excellent forming and welding characteristics. It is readily brake or roll formed into a variety of parts for applications in the industrial, architectural, and transportation fields. 316 also has outstanding welding characteristics. Post-weld annealing is not required when welding thin sections.
316L, the low carbon version of 316 and is immune from sensitisation (grain boundary carbide precipitation). Thus it is extensively used in heavy gauge welded components (over about 6mm).
316H, with its higher carbon content has application at elevated temperatures, as does stabilised grade 316Ti.
The austenitic structure also gives these grades excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures
Stainless steel 304 and stainless steel 304L are also known as 1.4301 and 1.4307 respectively. 304 is the most versatile and widely used stainless steel. It is still sometimes referred to by its old name 18/8 which is derived from the nominal composition of 304 being 18% chromium and 8% nickel. 304 stainless steel is an austenitic grade that can be severely deep drawn. This property has resulted in 304 being the dominant grade used in applications like sinks and saucepans.
304L is the low carbon version of 304. It is used in heavy gauge components for improved weldability.
304H, a high carbon content variant, is also available for use at high temperatures
Possible Alternative Grades
Grade Why it might be chosen instead of 304
301L A higher work hardening rate grade is required for certain roll formed or stretch formed components.
302HQ Lower work hardening rate is needed for cold forging of screws, bolts and rivets.
303 Higher machinability needed, and the lower corrosion resistance, formability and weldability are acceptable.
316 Higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion is required, in chloride environments
321 Better resistance to temperatures of around 600-900 C is needed 321 has higher hot strength.
3CR12 A lower cost is required, and the reduced corrosion resistance and resulting discolouration are acceptable.
430 A lower cost is required, and the reduced corrosion resistance and fabrication characteristics are acceptable.
