The character that oak brings displayed in furniture and other woodworking projects is one of its best qualities. White oak is straight-grained and is a favorite material used in many types of luxury furniture. White oak is water proof, so the most common furniture created using the product is outdoor furniture. Red oak is commonly used for Fence posts, Railroad ties, Boxes, Pallets and crates, and Handles. Red oak is porous and has open grains. It’s more prone to shrink than white oak. Our veneer logs are purchased in southern PA, MD and VA. The grading is similar to the grading of Birch, Natural or White.
