In the  Northern Plain produces mainly high quality Glutinous rice; and the world well known as "fang" and "pin kaew" Glutinous rice originates from here.
The Lower Northeastern Plain produces the best quality Thai Jasmine Fragrant rice or well- known as "Thai Hom Mali Rice". Thai Hom Mali Rice is the world's long grain, silky smooth, pure white, soft texture when cooked distinct fragrance only indigenous rice with a natural fragrance similar to pandanus plants. Thai Hom Mali Rice is a purely traditional variety and is 100 percent natural; it can only be grown during the main rice season from September to December. � The Department of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Commerce of the Royal Thai Government takes further steps to ensure that Thai Hom Mali Rice retains its international prestige as the best rice in the world by issuing the Quality Certification Mark. Only those exporters who have followed a series of stringent inspections and procedures lay down by the Royal Thai Government have the right to use this mark. Hom Mali rice is Thai fragrant white rice (aromatic or jasmine rice). It is the best Thai rice. In some countries, the word 'Jasmine rice' does not truly represent Hom Mali rice and is not as fragrant. There are varieties of Hom Mali rice depending on location in Thailand.
Kheow Ngu is Thai glutinous rice. It is famous for its white, shiny and soft texture. Kheow Ngu is also a versatile glutinous rice. Many desserts comprise it.

Black Glutinous Rice is sticky rice. It is covered by red purple or black color pericarp. However, it is very sensitive to light and only farm during in-season rice field. Black Glutinous rice withstands the drought, aphid and green cicada. The different between black glutinous rice and other kinds of rice is the purple color on its leaf and pericarp.
