The nature of Refined Cotton (RC) is a cellulose and it is made by refining the cotton linter. Cellulose is a kind of polysaccharide carbohydrate (C6 H10O5)n RC can be used to manufacture. Cellulose ester (nitrocellulose, Cellulose acetate, cellulose sulfonate (viscose fiber)) which can be use in the field of Military applications manufacturing of nitrocellulose paints. Cotton is also processed locally for weaving and spinning as well a supply for the cotton oil industry. Sudan produces 4 types of cotton namely, extra-long, long, medium & short staples. Productivity is around 0.5 tons/feddan. Specifications: Staple length can be 1.3/32 inches down to 0.945 inches. Some RG cotton is even longer reaching 1.1/8 inches, Micronaire for Sudan cotton is 3.5 - 5.0 ncl. Strength is 26 - 28 gpt average.
