Calcium oxide is produced by heating calcium carbonate to 2000 degrees F where carbon dioxide disassociates as a gas from the calcium carbonate: {CaCO3} + Heat = {CaO} + {CO2} Calcium oxide can be utilized in a variety of applications because of its physical and chemical qualities.
