Terpene phenolic resin is a phenolic modified resin that increases polarity. It can improve the specific adhesion, hot tack or
flexibility of hot melt or solvent based adhesives.
Applications:
- EVA based hot melt adhesives for packaging, bookbinding, woodworking and labeling.
- SIS and SBS based hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives.
- Sealants based on butyl rubber or polyurethane.
- Solvent based adhesives formulated with acrylics or natural rubber.
-Rubber compounding, Tires,
Properties
1) Stronger tackifying than other resins.
2) Excellent heat resistance and stable color,
3) Wide compatibility, able to mix with many high polymer resins in a wide range, soluble in many polar or non-polar solvents.
Solubility:
Soluble in:
1) aromatic / aliphatic solvents like hexane & toluene.
2) Esters and ketones like ethylacetate and acetone.
3) Longer chain alcohols like propanol, pentanol, butanol.
4) Insoluble in water and ethanol.
Compatibility
compatible with ethylene, butyl acrylate copolymers, natural rubbers and synthetic rubbers (SIS, SBS, SBR, chloroprene, butyl), polyesters and acrylics. Also compatible with various resins (rosin derivatives, polyterpene resins, hydrocarbon resins) with waxes.
