Bright red and light blue. It is soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water and ethanol for blue. It is yellow-brown in concentrated, and after dilution becomes green, then it becomes yellow-brown. The dye aqueous solution is added with sodium hydroxide to have purple-brown precipitation.

Phthalocyanine blue is also known as Copper Phthaloc yanine blue; Monstral Fast blue; Winsor Blue; Bocour blue; Talens Rembrandt Blue; Thalo Blue; Heliogen Blue.Phthalocyanine blue is a permanent pigment which is unaffected by light, heat, and chemicals. It is used as a colorant in inks, enamels, plastics, paints, chalks, leather, pencils, and photographs. In industry, phthalocyanine blue has replaced all other blue pigments for use in coatings because it is lightfast as well as resistant to chemicals and clumping.
Pigment Violet 23 is a transparent purple pigment with high saturation and high tinting strength. C.I. Pigment Violet 23 has better tinting strength in soft PVC, but poor migration resistance. P.V.23 heat resistance above 230 in polyolefins. When used in transparent polystyrene, the temperature should be lower than 220�°c, above which PV 23 should decompose. When processed in polyester, the temperature is 280â??, stable within 5 hours, and the concentration is above 0.05%.

Ultramarine is a blue pigment composed of sodium aluminosilicate and three sulfur atoms in the form of sulfide or sulfate, the unpaired S3-anion originating from the blue. It is prepared from inexpensive modifier components such as kaolin, sodium carbonate and sulfur. Synthetic ultramarine does not show vivid blue as much as natural ultramarine, due to even particle size, diffusing light more uniformly. Synthetic dark blue can be affected by light, oil or lime. Ultramarine has heat and alkali resistant properties. It is used as a colourant and optical brightener for plastics, rubber, inks, paints, cosmetics, detergents, cement, textiles and paper.
Ultramarine blue is a saturated, semitransparent, dark, violet-leaning blue. It makes clean violet mixes with cool reds and magentas and is nicely neutralized with siennas or raw umber. Ultramarine's unique property of flocculationâ??the tendency of its particles to clump up togetherâ??give it a lively granulating texture in washes. Interesting effects can be achieved when mixing ultramarine with a micronized pigment, as some of the heavier blue particles will sink a bit while the lightest particles will float above.

P.B.15:3 has better heat resistance than copper phthalocyanine, but poorer tinting strength. P.B.15:3 shows good fastness properties and dispersivity.
