India is the second largest producer of peanuts in the world. Groundnut oil contributes to 25 per cent oil seed production in India. Currently the annual yield of Indian peanuts is 5-8 million tons and that of peanut oil is approximately 1.5 million tons.
India trades around 0.1 million ton of peanuts annually. Small quantity of peanuts gives an individual a boost of healthy fats, protein, fiber, micronutrients and bioactive components. Peanuts also comprise of optimum level of vitamin A, vitamin E, folate, magnesium, zinc, iron, calcium, and dietary fiber.
