Rice husk ash (rice hull ash) is a protective layer on grain which is often found in the form of waste. This husk can be found in almost all grain crops or grasses.

Rice husk ash are the result of burning rice husks in a cauldron or on a stove for a certain period of time until the husks turn black.
The black color comes from incomplete combustion due to water spraying on the husk coals before the coals turn to ashes. You can use the results of the combustion as burnt husks for planting media.
