Description The Eastern White Pine, a species native to Quebec, is the tallest conifer in eastern Canada. Its wood is the least resinous of all pines. It is a fast-growing tree, sometimes reaching heights of 90 metres and diameters of 250 centimetres. With its uniform texture, Eastern White Pine is used for mouldings, cabinetwork, doors, windows, siding, panelling and do-it-yourself (DIY) projects. Its wood is tender and ranges from creamy white to yellow. It is valued for its fine grain and workability. Colour The sapwood is white or creamy white whereas the hardwood ranges from pale yellow to pale or reddish brown. Texture The wood grain is generally regular. Its texture is medium and uniform.

Fluorescence and time-resolved fluorescence measurements in dominican ambers have been reported. These studies show that the "blue" variety reveals an intense fluorescence emission in the visible wavelength region, between 430 and 530 nm, with spectral features which are typical of aromatic hydrocarbons. On the contrary, the dominican "red" and "yellow" amber varieties have a much weaker and featureless emission, although still do have a certain fluorescence. Red Oak is one of the dominant species in the Northeastern US, the Hudson Valley and the Catskill Mountains. We harvest logs in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Additional logs are purchased the New England States, PA, NJ, and VA. Sometimes Red Oak is also called Grey Oak.
White Oak is one of the top three species at CTI. We produce slicer veneer logs in several different sorts as well as 3-face logs. However, our speciality is rift logs with light color. In some areas in the US White Oak is also called Stave Oak.
Most of our Hard Maple logs are from the New England States and upstate New York but we also purchase veneer and rotary logs in Canada. Other names are Sugar Maple or Rock Maple.
Our primary selection is for color and gum content. The second criteria is size. We separate veneer logs in 4 clear face and 3 clear face. The procurement area is NY, PA and VA.
We have three basic separations by color and additional grades by size or quality. Yellow Poplar is also called Tulipwood, American Whitewood or Tulip Tree.
CTI purchases these logs in Missouri, Iowa and other States in the Midwest and separates the grades in 4 clear face and 3 clear face veneer logs. Further separations are made in different diameter classes.
There are two basic separations in this specie, one is called Natural, where we have no restrictions of the heart the other is called White where we limit the heart to customer specification.

Cutek green is a special version that is manufactured to contain less than 200 grams/liter of volatile organic compounds, enabling it to used and specified on most "green" projects as a solvent based coating. Specifically, cutek green has been independently tested to astm 3960 and determined to contain 173 grams/liter. Cutek green® is identical in appearance and performance to conventional cutek® wood preservative with the exception that it diffuses into the timber substrate at a slightly higher rate and with less dry time. 1 or 5 gallon containers. 7 pounds per gallon.
