Natural Production Method of Sulfur Powder Naturally, sulfur is found predominantly in volcanic regions. Volcanic activities bring sulfur to the earth's surface, where it solidifies upon cooling. This element is also widely found in many minerals, including iron pyrite, gypsum, and Epsom salts. In natural mines, sulfur is collected as solid layers near the earthâ??s surface and then processed into powder. This method is less commonly used due to high costs and environmental restrictions. Industrial Production Method of Sulfur Powder Today, most of the sulfur required by the industry is produced through the extraction and refining of oil and gas. Sulfur is extracted as a by-product during the refining process of natural gas and petroleum. In this process, a large amount of sulfur is obtained from natural gas and petroleum, which contain hydrogen sulfide and a wide range of sulfur-containing organic compounds (like CH3SH).
