EFB ( Empty Fruit Bunch ) Fibre or Palm Fibre or Peat Fiber is produced from the Oil Palms vascular bundlesin the Empty Fruit Bunch ( EFB ). When the FFB ( Fresh Fruit Bunch ) is processed, the by product is Mesocarp Fiber and EFB Fiber. The Mesocarp fiber is reused by the Palm Oil Mill and the EFB Fiber is sold. EFB Fiber is 100% natural, non-hazardous, biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Two main uses of Empty Fruit Bunches are for mulching purposes in Plantation and as fuel for electricity generation. EFB fibers have more uses, namely, 1) Animal Feed supplement for cattle, goats, sheep, 2) Rich source of organic fertilizer for farming, 3) Excellent mulching material for young plants, seedlings and landscaping, 4) Raw Material for Composite Board Manufacture, 5) Alternative Boiler Fuel in the form of fiber or Pellets , amongst others.
