A by-product from crushing, expelling, and extracting oil from Oilseed rape and is normally in meal form. Oilseed rape meal is readily available all the year round.
A high protein, good energy feed is used to partially replace soya bean meal, although the protein is less digestible. The meal from industrial crops ("environmentally friendly" fuel oils) is usually high in glucosinolate / erucic acid.
Rapeseed Meal is derived from the oilseed rape plant and constitutes a black and yellowish meal that is slightly oily to the touch.
Rapeseed Meal is available all year round. Oilseed Rapemeal has become a popular feed to supply ruminant animals, and to a lesser extent, pigs, with a cost-effective source of protein (35%). Good levels of ruminally degraded protein make it a useful addition in diets containing low-protein grass and maize.
No heat should be applied to the material as it is subject to self-ignition given combustible conditions.
Rapeseed meal is a protein-rich byproduct of rapeseed oil extraction, commonly used as a nutritious animal feed ingredient. It provides essential amino acids and energy, supporting the growth and health of livestock and poultry.

Rapeseed is a bright-yellow flowering member of the family Brassicaceae (mustard or cabbage family), cultivated mainly for its oil-rich seed, which naturally contains appreciable amounts of erucic acid. Canola are a group of rapeseed cultivars which were bred to have very low levels of erucic acid and are especially prized for use for human and animal food. Rapeseed is the third-largest source of vegetable oil and the second-largest source of protein meal in the world. Rapeseed has a high melliferous potential and is a main forage crop for honeybees. Monofloral rapeseed honey has a whitish or milky yellow color, peppery taste and, due to its fast crystallization time, a soft-solid texture. It crystallizes within 3 to 4 weeks and can ferment over time if stored improperly.
