Coir Fibre is extracted from the fibrous outer cover of the fruit of the Coconut palm, with or without retting. Coir Fibre is graded based on its nature of extraction, colour, presence of long and short fibres, impurities etc.
COCONUT COIR
Its coconut byproduct, It is extracted from the coconut husks. The fibre cells are narrow and hallow and walls made of thick cellulose.
The coir fiber is naturally enough elastic without any breaking and it holds a curl as though permanently waved so that they can be utilized for stuffing and puffing of furnitureâ??s.
They are used commonly in packing industry to safeguard and protect delicate product since coir fibres are the perfect shock absorbers.
There are two types of coir fibre they are:
>Brown- Outcome of fully matured coconut.
Uses: Curled Coir Rope, coir mattresses, rubberized coir pads, coir cushions, carpet under lays, seat cushions and for insulating drainage pipes and their pads are sprayed with rubber latex.
>Yellow or white- outcome of immature green coconut husk.
Uses: mainly in manufacturing of rope, carpets, fishing nets because of strong resilience to salt water.
