Chromite is an important refractory material. Chrome based Refractory Mortar contains a very low silica content, typically <1% SiO2.
The Mortar is generally produced as a fine-grained concentrate from which most of the silica, which occurs in the gangue, has been removed. The refractoriness of the mortar is also determined by the amount of combined Cr2O3 and Al2O3, which should exceed 58%. In case of the Indian Refractory Mortar manufactured by us it exceeds 70% and the content of Cr2O3 exceeds 56%
Chrome Based Refractory Mortar has the following physical and chemical properties:
Melting point of 2150°C
Good thermal conductivity Good resistance to thermal shock
Excellent resistance to metal penetration or burn-on
Resists slag attack
High dimensional stability
Excellent chilling characteristics can eliminate the need for metal chills
Chipping, grinding, and overall cleaning costs significantly reduced
Reduced gas defects due to minimal binder requirements along with excellent permeability
Preferred aggregate for large iron, steel, copper base and high alloy castings due to high resistance to penetration
Excellent peel characteristics and good surface finish due to superior resistance to metal oxides and slag
High thermal stability reduces expansion defects, enhancing overall dimensional accuracy
Uses of Chrome based Refractory Mortar - Chrome based Refractory Mortar is used as a refractory material, because it has high heat stability. It is used in the following ways:
Chromite Sand in the steel industry - In steel production, Chrome based refractory Mortar is used as well filler for protection of the sliding gate in large steel holding ladles. Stainless Steel Industry – Chrome is also well known for being the element enabling steel to be stainless, without chromium there is no stainless steel. Chromium is added to steel to increase resistance to oxidation. High content of Cr2O3 in our Chrome based Refractory Mortar has an edge over the conventional Chrome Ore being used or other Low Grade Chromite Sand being used globally

Fly ash is a by-product of coal burning at the utility plants. As coal is burned, non-combustible mineral impurities in coal evaporate and condense into tiny particles of glass, almost totally spherical in shape. The individual particles are very small, like talcum powder and are carried up and out of the boiler in the flow of exhaust gases leaving the boiler after the coal is consumed.
The fly ash particles are removed from the exhaust stream in bag houses or electrostatic precipitators and then stored for later shipment
The difference between fly ash and Portland cement becomes apparent under a microscope. Fly ash particles are almost totally spherical in shape allowing them to flow and blend freely in mixture. That capability is one of the properties making fly ash a desirable admixture of concrete.
Feldspar is a common raw material used in glassmaking, ceramics, and to some extent as a filler and extender in paint, plastics, and rubber. In glassmaking, alumina from feldspar improves product hardness, durability, and resistance to chemical corrosion. In ceramics, the alkalis in feldspar (calcium oxide, potassium oxide, and sodium oxide) act as a flux, lowering the melting temperature of a mixture.

Wollastonite is chemically a Calcium Meta Silicate (CaSiO3), it is a naturally occurring white & acicular (needle shaped) mineral, with mohs hardness of 4.5. In addition to Wollastoniteâ??s unique morphology, it is alkaline, inert, has low loss on ignition, low water solubility, low co-efficient of linear thermal expansion and a melting point of 15400c. It also improves tear strength, dielectric properties and retains mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.
