Neem oil is a naturally occurring pesticide found in seeds from the neem tree. It is yellow to brown, has a bitter taste, and a garlic/sulphur smell. It has been used for hundreds of years to control pests and diseases. Neem oil is extracted from Neem kernel by cold pressed rotary system in-order to maintain the naturally occurring organic compound.
Cold pressed Neem oil is a mixture of several C26 terpenoids which are naturally occurring organic compounds. Azadirachtin is the most common terpenoid in cold pressed Neem oil, the most thoroughly characterised and is a federally registered active ingredient pesticide. Cold pressed Neem oil also contains steroids, fatty acids, and a number of essential oils.
Presence of Azadirachtin in neem oil reduces insect feeding and acts as a repellent. Meliaceae and it is one of two species in the genus Azadirachta, native to India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. It is classified under the order Sapindales, from the family Meliaceae, with the genus Azadirachta and the species A. indica.
