You may have a condition like Parkinson's disease that makes it hard for you to chew or swallow. Or you might have a critical illness like cancer and lack the strength to eat enough to stay healthy.
Use and Care
Tubes can deliver food in different ways. Some use a pump or syringe to push the food, while others rely on gravity. Your home care provider -- nurse, dietitian, or other helper -- will show you how to use and care for it.

What is a Foley Catheter/ Foley Balloon Catheter
A Foley catheter is a thin, flexible and sterile tube which is passed through the urethra into the urinary bladder. Urine drains from the bladder into a bag which is attached to one of the lumens of the catheter. The urinary catheter is held in its place with a balloon at one end which is filled with sterile water.
When is a Foley Catheter used?
The need for catheterization arises in a number of conditions including:
When there is hesitation or inability to urinate due to retention (due to anomalies in the urinary stream)
When there is an anatomical obstruction to the urethra (prostate cancer etc.)
To monitor urine samples of critical patient
Material composition:
latex rubber, silicone and silicone coated variants are available. Traditionally, these urinary catheters have been made from latex, however, silicone due to its more inert nature is now gaining preference especially for long term use and where cost is not a constraint.
* Choose insulin syringes designed for comfortable injections, in line with the latest recommendations on insulin delivery
Just as effective as insulin syringes with longer needles, our 6-mm insulin syringes, like the BD insulin syringe with the BD Ultra-Fine 6mm needle, reduce anxiousness, and they are less likely to cause painful injections into the muscle.1,2 Utilizing thin wall technology, they feature a thinner wall that reduces the required plunger force and that helps large insulin doses flow easily.
Super smooth kink resistance tubing ensures uniform flowrate.
For removal of secretion from trachea and bronchial region.
Atraumatic, soft rounded, Open Distal end with one lateral eyes for non-traumatic insertion.
Syringes are essentially a small, manual pump device used for medical procedures. Syringes are used for injections, fluid removal or irrigation. Choosing the Right Syringe can often be difficult. For injections, syringes are often fitted with a needle. For fluid removal, syringes may be fitted with a needle or with medical tubing. Irrigation syringes have a special tip and are commonly used by themselves or with tubing.
The Polymed Urine Collection Bag with Bottom Outlet is meant to be used for short and long term urine collection
- The urine bag has a soft and kink resistant PVC tubing
- The urine collection bag comes with a non-return valve to stop the back flow of urine
Urine bags are available either as a leg bag or a drainage bag. A Leg urine bag is attached to the patients thigh with elastic or Velcro straps and allows them to move freely during the day. They have a small holding capacity in comparison to a drainage urine bag and need to be emptied and cleaned more frequently. A drainage urine bag is used for patients that may be in wheelchairs or beds and are not attached to the patients body. They can be used for a longer period of time and are commonly used during the night while the patient is asleep.
Condom Catheters: How and When to Use
Condom catheters are external urinary catheters that are worn like a condom. They collect urine as it drains out of your bladder and send it to a collection bag strapped to your leg.
What are the benefits of a condom catheter?
Condom catheters have several benefits over internal catheters. For example, they:
are less likely to cause a catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI)
are more comfortable
cause less movement restriction
A feeding tube is a medical device that is used to feed an individual who is unable to take food by mouth safely. This difficulty may be due to difficulty swallowing, an altered level of consciousness, an eating disorder, or other issues that make eating challenging.
A Foley catheter is a common type of indwelling catheter. It has, soft, plastic or rubber tube that is inserted into the bladder to drain the urine. In most cases, your provider will use the smallest catheter that is appropriate.
Syringe: A medical device that is used to inject fluid into, or withdraw fluid from, the body. A medical syringe consists of a needle attached to a hollow cylinder that is fitted with a sliding plunger. The downward movement of the plunger injects fluid; upward movement withdraws fluid.
It is used for short- or medium-term nutritional support, and also for aspiration of stomach contents - eg, for decompression of intestinal obstruction. A wide-bore tube is used if drainage is needed; otherwise, a finer-bore tube is used.
A suction catheter can help prevent aspiration in a patient undergoing dental treatment, especially if the patient is in an altered state of consciousness. Patients at risk of aspiration--such as those with pneumonia, continuous vomiting, or a bloody airway--may need suctioning to prevent aspiration.
Syringes without Needle â?? How to Choose the Right Syringe Selection Guide. Syringes are essentially a small, manual pump device used for medical procedures. Syringes are used for injections, fluid removal or irrigation.
Such devices are used by people that may be suffering from urinary incontinence/ leakage, difficulty in urination, urinary tract infections, during and after certain types of urological and gynaecological surgeries, and other ailments. - Urine bags are made from medical grade PVC that is non-toxic and safe to use.
