Alloyed rolls are special steels alloyed with nickel, chromium & molybdenum which is used in breakdown, roughing & intermediate mills for finishing of heavy sections. These rolls are statically casted and undergo a three stage high temperature heat treatment comprising of annealing, normalizing & tempering rotation. The rolls are available in a wide variety of composition & properties to suit specific application. The matrix structure is pearlitic or bainitic depending on the alloy content. Changing the carbide distribution obtained through controlled chemical composition varies the hardness.
