Bili comes from the Acehnese language which means carrying plant or bamban (donax canniformis). herbaceous plant or shrub. The raw material for bili stems is obtained from the surrounding mountains Lampanah Teunong Village. Then the bili stem is split into small blades which are then slightly dried for further use as raw material for plaiting.
Bili or bemban weave is processed into various unique works of woven crafts such as serving lids, tote bags, wallets, baskets, fish clotheslines, flower vases and others. Processing done independently or in groups in a house on stilts in the village Lampanah Teunong, Aceh, Indonesia.
