The application of spiral vibration dampers on transmission lines helps to reduce the amplitude of conductor vibrations, which in turn reduces the stress on the line, and prevents damage and failure of the transmission system. In addition to reducing conductor vibration, spiral vibration dampers also provide protection against galloping, which is a large-amplitude, low-frequency vibration that can occur when the wind blows across the conductor.
