Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a water-soluble, non-irritating, stable derivative of Vitamin C. It has the same potential as vitamin C to boost skin collagen synthesis but is effective in significantly lower concentrations and can be used at concentrations as low as 10% to suppress melanin formation (in skin-whitening solutions). It is also important to note that Magnesuim Ascorbyl Phosphate may be better choice than Vitamin C for people with sensitive skin and those wishing to avoid any exfoliating effects since many Vitamin C formulas are highly acidic (and therefore produce exfoliating effects). Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a very stable vitamin C derivatives (L-Ascorbic acid mono-dihydrogen phosphate magnesium salt) which does not degrade in formulas containing water. In skin care products, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is used for UV protection and repair, collagen production, skin lightening and brightening, and as an anti-inflammatory. It is also a potent antioxidant.It is considered an excellent non-irritating Sakin whitening agent that inhibits skin cells to produce melanin and lightens age spots, and is a great alternative to Quinone. Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a also a potent antioxidant that can protect skin from oxidation and UV rays, and is used as an anti-inflammatory(source).It can improve appearance of aged and fragile skin. Widely used as add-on ingredient in skin-lightening products to correct hyperpigmentation and age spots. Antioxidant effect can be increased by combining Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate with L-Ascorbic acid and/or vitamin E.
What is glabridin? Glabridin is one of the main flavonoids in Glycyrrhiza glabra, a natural substance with outstanding whitening effect, which can only be extracted from the rare Glycyrrhiza glabra. In 1000kg of Glycyrrhiza, only 100g of Glycyrrhiza can be obtained. The scarcity and extraction difficulty make 1g of Glycyrrhiza equivalent to 1g of physical gold. Glabridin is a kind of flavonoid active ingredient derived from licorice root. It is a common skin whitening ingredient. Only 1g Glabridin can be extracted from per 500kg licorice root. And its whitening effect is 1000 times that of vitamin C. Therefore, it also enjoys the name of "Whitening Gold". Glabridin, as a major ingredient of licorice for skin, is mild and non-irritating. Glabridin is recognized as a safe and scientific whitening cosmetic ingredient. As a natural whitening ingredient, the skin-whitening mechanism of Glabridin mainly includes: (1)inhibiting tyrosinase activity (2)inhibiting the activity of dopachrome tautomerase(tRP-2) (3)inhibiting the activity of DHICA oxidase; (4)exerting the function of endothelin antagonist; (5)increasing the total antioxidant capacity of the skin; (6)effectively scavenging oxygen free radicals and its chain reaction. Moreover, through these synergistic effects, it effectively prevents the polymerization of 5. 6-dihydroxyindole( DHI)and the production of dopachrome. Thereby Glabridin can disturb and hinder the formation and transport of melanin; and then it inhibits and reduces pigmentation so as to achieve whitening skin effect.
