In the manufacture of Portland cement, clinker occurs as lumps or nodules, usually 3 millimetres (0.12 in) to 25 millimetres (0.98 in) in diameter, produced by sintering (fused together without melting to the point of liquefaction) limestone and aluminosilicate materials such as clay during the cement kiln stage.

After gypsum, clinker and limestone are measured by the belt weigher, they will be mixed together in accordance with particular proportions, and then sent to the stable weighing warehouse. After crushed, they will be sent to the powder separator, in which coarse powder will be sent back to the grinding mill while the fine one will be sent to the elevator for finished products.
