The use of Low-E in IGU's further reduces heat transfer; it keeps thermal radiation heat from leaving interiors while preventing infrared heat from the sun from entering. To both reduce heat transfer and increase solar control, it is ideal to have an interior low-e pane and exterior tinted or reflective pane. For maximum performance, the use of Argon gas in the middle space is recommended. Replacing Air with Argon reduces noise levels and heat transfer even further.
