Typically reactive polyurethane adhesive can be showed strong adhesive strength as time goes on. Finally adhesive strength will last semi-permanently.Becausethese adhesives are manufactured by reacting mixtures of polyols with an excess of diisocyanate. The reaction of an isocyanategroup(-NCO) with an alcohol group(-OH) produces the urethane group(pre-polymer). The polyurethane pre-polymer includes from about 3% NCO to about 4% NCO. Isocyanate terminated polyurethane pre-polymer cured in the presence moisture. Moisture, which is present in the ambient atmosphere reacts with isocyanate end groups and this react will occur chain extension or crosslinking which will cause the curing reaction. This reaction can be showed strong adhesive strength as time goes on. A modern adhesive must have a long shelf life. Reactive adhesives meet this standard.
