Normally we see seed inside a fruit, but in a cashew fruit, its seed is an outside entity attached to it. Four centuries ago, when the Portuguese landed on the Indian soil, they brought with them the priceless tree nut - "Cashew". Cashew came, conquered and took deep roots in the entire coastal region of India. Cashew found the Indian soil more congenial for its growth than its homeland. It later gained popularity as a cash crop in many parts of India as well.

The cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale) is a tropical evergreen tree that produces the cashew nut and the cashew apple. It can grow as high as 14 metres (46 ft), but the dwarf cashew, growing up to 6 metres (20 ft), has proved more profitable, with earlier maturity and higher yields.
The cashew nut is served as a snack or used in recipes, like other nuts, although it is actually a seed. The cashew apple is a fruit, whose pulp can be processed into a sweet, astringent fruit drink or distilled into liqueur.
The shell of the cashew nut yields derivatives that can be used in many applications from lubricants to paints, and other parts of the tree have traditionally been used for snake-bites and other folk remedies.
Cashews are native of Brazil and were spread around the world by the Portuguese. Cashews are found mostly in Brazil, Western Africa, India, Vietnam and Indonesia. Major of the cashew processing takes place in India and Vietnam

Members of the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India, who are manufacturers and exporters of

There are regular shipping facilities from India to all ports of the world. Major shipments from India

W-180 is the King of Cashew . They are larger in size and hence expensive.
W-210 is popularly known as Jumbo nuts.
W-240 is an attractive grade available at reasonable prices.
W- 320 is the most popular among cashew kernels and also the most available, worldwide.
W-450 is the smallest and also the cheapest white whole kernel. This is hence the favorite among
low-priced whole grades.
