Bitumen Penetration Grade 80/100 is a standard penetration grade Bitumen usually used as a Paving Grade Bitumen suitable for road construction and for the production of asphalt pavements with superior properties. This grade of Bitumen is mainly used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses. Penetration Grade Bitumen supplied by ASI GLOBAL TRADE is petroleum grade bitumen, manufactured from fractional / vacuum distillation of crude oil. The Bitumen supplied by ASI GLOBAL TRADE is produced from vacuum residue (short residue) feedstock. Penetration Grade bitumens are specified by the penetration and softening point test. Designation is by penetration range only. The penetration grade bitumens have a thermoplastic property which causes the material to soften at high temperatures and to harden at lower temperatures. This unique temperature/ viscosity relationship is important when determining the performance parameters such as the adhesion, rheology, durability and application temperatures of bitumen. The quality of bitumen 60/70 depends on its physical properties and specifications. Apart from penetration test, there are a number of test that are used for specifying bitumen 60/70 including viscosity, softening point, ductility, loss on heating, and flash point. Some of these items are more important for suppliers of bitumen 60/60 and their customers. These are softening point and flashpoint. Technical Data Sheet Bitumen 60/70 Paving Grade Bitumen Description Bitumen 60/70 has the highest-boiling point, heaviest and most polar fraction from the vacuum distillation of crude oil. Bitumen 60 70 is composed of asphaltene and maltene. The heavy insoluble asphaltene molecules give bitumen 60/70 its body and softening point while the maltenes are oily and make asphalt flexible. Asphalting molecules are soluble in aromatic solvents like toluene but insoluble in heptane. The maltenes are heptane-soluble molecules and less aromatic. Applications Bitumen 60/70 is a high-quality penetration grade bitumen used in road construction and other similar applications. Bitumen penetration grade 60/70 is semi hard penetration grade bitumen using as paving grade bitumen suitable for road construction and repair also for the production of asphalt pavements with below technical specification.
