One advantage of this charcoal is that it gives a special aroma to bbq when burning. There are two types of mangrove charcoal, trunk and branch.

The application of the nut shell activated carbon in wastewater treatment
Due to the pretreatment of the activated carbon for water demand is high, and the activated carbon is expensive, so in waste water treatment, activated carbon is mainly used to remove the trace pollutants in the waste water, in order to achieve the purpose of deep purification.
The activated carbon treatment wastewater containing mercury. Activated carbon adsorption properties of mercury and mercury compounds, but the adsorption capacity is limited, only suitable for the treatment of waste water containing low amount of mercury. If mercury concentration is higher, can use first chemical precipitation process, mercury is about 1 mg/l, after processing is high up to 2 to 3 mg/l, then the use of activated carbon in further processing.
