Insoluble in ethanol, soluble in water, dissolved when heat, solution is strongly alkaline. Easily deliquescence agglomeration in the air, absorb CO2 and produce sodium bicarbonate. Monohydrate as a fine white crystal or powder, the relative density of 1.55. Stable at room temperature and heated to lose crystal water becomes anhydrous at 100 ºC.
