Street food is ready-to-eat food or drink sold by a hawker, or vendor, in a street or other public place, such as at a market or fair. It is often sold from a transportable food booth, food cart, or food truck and meant for immediate consumption. Street foods in Kolkata -it has become a much bigger industry a lot of recently with the mass popularization of the “food truck.” Food trucks have low below costs and thus will sell higher food for less cash that standard restaurants, or at least, on the face of it. The practical reality is that street vendors face myriad issues with native legislators because of problems like, some dude’s car being put in the same for eleven hours daily. Regardless, street food gives executive and specialty foods a shot at the big time while not the high overhead and direct prices that plague standard restaurants, hence their popularization and the inclusion of the term “street food”.
