Grades Activated Attapulgite (ATGEL â?? 50): It is a purified native hydrated aluminum silicate essentially consisting of the clay mineral polygorskite that has been carefully heated in increase its adsorptive capacity. It's a light, cream or buff, very fine powder. Colloidal Attapulgite (ATGEL 1): It is prepared by specific thermal activation and particle size control. The heat treatment of raw clay is more vigorous and most of the bound water is removed. Therefore, the possibility of obtaining a colloidal dispersion is almost nil.
