Nam Dok Mai Mango (in Thai:"Ma-Muang") There are many varieties of mangoes in Thailand but the most popular and well-known varieties as hi-end quality are Golden Nam Dok Mai Mango and Nam Dok Mai Mango No.4. Both can possibly weigh between 250 - 450 grams. Golden Nam Dok Mai Mango, This type of mango is rather big and plump when compares with other varieties. Its shape is oval with thick golden yellow peel. Its green peel and flesh turns into golden yellow when it is ripe and it can be peeled off easily. Its flesh is smooth, soft, juicy, sweet and less fiber than other regular mangoes, smells a bit like honey and taste like a very sweet mango. Its seed is long and flat. Nam Dok Mai Mango No.4, This specific variety name is "Ta-Wai No.4" . Nam Dok Mai Mango No.4 has a slimmer shape and thinner skin than Golden Nam Dok Mai Mango. Its taste is a little bit sweeter and more aromatic than Golden Nam Dok Mai Mango. Its seed is long and flat. It can yield almost all year round but its high season is still rather similar to the other Nam Dok Mai Mango.
