It is soluble in water and ethanol, with a specific gravity of 1.1906. The melting point is -85.5�°C, the boiling point is -60.4�°C, the critical temperature is 100.4�°C, and the critical pressure is 90.06�?105 Pa. The autoignition point is 260�°C, and it is flammable. It can cause explosive combustion when it encounters a spark. When mixed with air, it can cause an explosion, and the explosion limit is 4% to 44% (volume). Pure hydrogen peroxide is a crystalline solid below 12�¨�¬F and a colorless liquid with a bitter taste above 12�¨�¬F. It is almost always used as an aqueous solution, which is available in dilute form (3% to 10%) for household use and in concentrated form (greater than 30%) for industrial use. Hydrogen peroxide is unstable, decomposing readily to oxygen and water with release of heat. Commercial peroxide products contain a stabilizer (usually acetanilide) to slow the rate of spontaneous decomposition. Hydrogen peroxide is nonflammable, but it is a powerful oxidizing agent that can cause spontaneous combustion when it comes in contact with organic material.
