Fronzen Bigeye Tuna Whole Round

Bigeye tuna (thunnus obesus), is an important food fish and prized recreational game fish. It is a true tuna of the genus thunnus, belonging to the wider mackerel family scombridae. Bigeye tuna are found in the open waters of all tropical and temperate oceans, but not the mediterranean sea.

Bigeye tuna has a dark metallic blue on the upper body, which fades to white on the belly, and with a yellow stripe dividing the 2 colors. Bigeye tuna reaches average size of 40 to 180 cm and weights 1.4 to 130kg.

The meat of bigeye is with a rosy red-pink color which holds impressive reserves of omega-3 fatty acids thus making it an almost religious experience when eaten, due to its sublime taste and texture. Bigeye is often sold fresh or frozen by its hawaiian name ahi and is commonly used for sashimi.

Bigeye tuna we supply comes from major chinese fishing companies which own their own fleets. By working with large fishing companies we can guarantee competitive prices, high quality standard and year-round availability to our customers.
