Fabrication:
The extruded fin tubes are produced by compressing an aluminum tube, or sleeve, onto the base tube. The bloom is exposed to very high pressures which essentially "grows" the fins into the final fin profiles.This process manufacture an excellent strong joint with great resistance (fin stiffness) as well as exceptional heat transfer capabilities (longevity, temperature range). The advantage of extruded fin tubes are full protection of bare tube against corrosion and fin has high mechanical strength. Extruded finned tubes provide the most stable performance over time as compared to the other fin types. The fin is rolled from an outer aluminum tube by a process using pressure to create a rolled "pressure bond" between the liner tube and fins. The aluminum fin material completely encloses the tube, except at the ends where a tube coating can be applied.
Application:
Primaily extruded finned tubes are used in high temperature conditions and corrosive atmospheric conditions, such as operating temperatures less than 300°c or off-shore applications, heat pipes air to air heat exchangers for hvac applications, air dehumidification in air treatment plants, energy recovery in air exaust system. This kind of fin design is the least economical as compared to the other fin types, main reason due to the increased amount of aluminum used around 40% also increased labors during the manufacturing. However this increased cost can be compensated if using lower grade parent tube material.
Process: the extruded fin tube is bimetallic combined with integral aluminum fins on the outside surface. The base tube is inserted inside the aluminum tube and both tubes are passed through extrusion machine. The tight mechanical bond between aluminum tube and inner base tube is accomplished during the fining work and same time makes the n steel, low-alloy steels, stainless steel , brass , copper , cooper-nickel alloys , aluminum bronze , nickel alloys , titanium etc... Fin materials: aluminum 1060f, aluminum 6063-o, aluminum1100-o, copper Tube od: 16 mm to 50.8mm. Tube wall thickness: 1mm min Tube entire length: 16, 000mm max. Aluminium fins are formed from a bimetallic tube consisting of a base tube and an aluminium muff tube. The fins are formed on a cold rolling process from the wall thickness of the aluminium muff tube. Extruded fin gives very good corrosion protection to the base tube, as the base tube is not visible to the atmosphere inbetween the fins. The Extruded Fin Tube also known as� Bimetallic Fin Tube� is one of the most preferred finning processes for various applications. Manufacturing process: Fin is produced by the rolling method (three-roll oblique rolling). Its working principle is: The smooth tube is lined with a mandrel, the tube material is driven by the roller blade to make a spiral linear movement, and is rolled by the roller. The hole pattern composed of the groove and the core rod is gradually processed with fins on its outer surface. In order to facilitate the formation of fins, the rolling parts adopt three stages of biting, rolling, and shaping during the deformation process, so that the processed fins are complete, smooth, and regular. The finned tube produced by this method is based on the base tube and the outer fin is an organic whole, so there is no problem of contact thermal resistance loss and electrical corrosion. It has good heat transfer efficiency and strong resistance to deformation. Extruded finned tubes consist of a light pipe and fins â??attachedâ?? to it. The structural parameters are mainly the inner diameter and outer diameter of the finned tube, the wall thickness of the finned tube, the fin pitch, the fin thickness and the fin height. Pure copper finned tube Fin Height Options: A. Low finned tubes The fins of the low finned tube are extruded directly from the tube material. The fin height is only 1-2 mm. The common low fins are 1.6 mm in the shell- and-tube heat exchanger. This kind of finned tube does not need to consider the contact thermal resistance with the tube. B. Middle finned tubes The fin height of the finned tube is about 3.2 mm, which is often used in pressure vessel equipment such as shell and tube heat exchangers. C. High finned tubes The finned tubes are usually used in air heat exchangers, whose height is lower than 16mm, depending on working conditions. D.
