Properties
Piperonyl butoxide (pbo) is an organic compound and the most well known synergist for insecticides, especially for natural pyrethrins, synthetic pyrethroids, carbamates and also some of the recently developed new classes of compounds.
The use of piperonyl butoxide in insecticidal formulations offers a number of advantages, by increasing the insecticides' efficacy and by reducing the amount of active substances necessary for insect control.
Piperonyl butoxide is used as sprays, aerosols, foggers, dusts and various other formulation types in the following areas: homes and public hygiene; mosquito control; on pets or farm animals; agricultural and horticultural applications; grain and stored products protection; food manufacturing and processing industries.
