Poptin anf is mainly used for retanning chrome and semichrome leather that is to be dyed in full, brilliant shades. It is amphoteric in nature.

Chemical nature

Mixture of naphthalene sulphonic acid condensate and phenol sulphonic acid condensate products.

Properties

POPTAN ANF is a pale, yellowish powder, readily soluble in water. It is compatible with chrome tanning agents and combination tanning agents containing chrome and with anionic dyes and auxiliaries.

POPTAN ANF is compatible with synthetic tanning agents and disperses vegetable tannins as well.

POPTAN ANF imparts medium fullness and good softness to the leather. The shade of the retanned leather has good light fastness, and it is clear and brilliant and bleached to a substantially less extent than by a retannage with conventional synthetic tanning agents.

POPTAN ANF promotes firmness of the grain, retans the leather under rather acid conditions and thus protects the grain while maintaining a mellow handle.

POPTAN ANF penetrates through the leather quickly and deeply and thus assists the penetration and uniform distribution of other materials such as synthetic, vegetable and resin tanning agents when used together.

POPTAN ANF favours uniform distribution of the fat liquoring agents and thus helps to impart good softness with minimum quantity of fatliquor.

Advantages

Chrome character is largely maintained producing a softy leather with firm grain.
Neutralisation and retannage may take place in the same bath. . Good filling effect.
Homogeneous absorption and distribution of fat. . Permits good exhaustion of dyes and fat liquors and thus helps to reduce pollution by tannery effluents.

Applications:

POPTAN ANF is a versatile tanning and retanning agent for chrome as well as vegetable tanned leather.
POPTAN ANF is especially recommended for automotive upholstery, furniture upholstery and clothing leathers. Recommended levels of use are 4-6%.
In combination retannages with vegetable and resin tanning agents to produce a full round leather 2-4% of Poptan ANF is recommended.
As a pretannage 3-5% of Poptan ANF is recommended to assist with penetration of other tanning agents.

Storage:

Presents no problem under normal storage conditions and has an indefinite shelf life. Some caking may occur if the product is stored in warm, daxnp conditions, but this does not affect the efficiency of the product.

Poptan BFR

Physical Appearance:
A fine creamish white powder based on special compounds having 96% active contents.

Applications:

Poptan BFR is an alkaline powder with very fine particle size. It is uniformly but sparingly soluble in acid solutions. So it is an extraordinarily excellent self basifying agent for chrome tannages as its addition to chrome tan bath increases the pH very gradually which can be controlled by the amount added. So it offers a completely safe method for controlling the basicity of chrome tannage thus totally avoiding regular and close supervision required in case of other common alkalis used for basification.

It is added soon after the penetration of chrome. An addition of 0.3-0.5% Poptan BFR on pelt weight is sufficient for normal pickle-chrome tan process although minor adjustments in pickle acid and amount of Poptan BFR for correct balance may be required. However, once this is obtained the process can be allowed to proceed safely with very little control for 6 hours to get the required pH level and boil test.

Advantages :
Poptan BFR regulates a gradual increase in pH without initial rapid increase normally observed with sodium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate etc., leading to perfect and levelled chrome distribution throughout the cross section of collagen and a smooth and light coloured grain.

Its fine particle size totally eliminates the risk of abrasion to the pelt and ensures best results.

Poptan BFR reacts with sulphuric acid to give only soluble salts. Alkalis based on calcium when used lead to formation of insoluble calcium sulphate in the pelt, which has a detrimental effect on the dyeing and can result in white stains on dyed leather.


Storage:
Can be stored under normal conditions and has an indefinite shelf life. Some cake formation may occur if it is stored in warm and humid conditions, but this does not affect its chemical activity.

Glycerol is a colorless, viscous liquid sweet clarity. Odorless. There are warm sweetness. Commonly known as glycerin, absorb moisture from the air, soluble in ethanol, miscible with water, not soluble in chloroform, ether, carbon disulfide, benzene, oils. but also absorb hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen cyanide and sulfur dioxide. Insoluble in benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide, petroleum ether and oils. Glycerol backbone component is a triglyceride molecule. When the human intake of edible fats, where triglyceride metabolism through decomposition, formation of glycerol and stored in fat cells. Therefore, the final product of the metabolism of triglycerides is glycerol and fatty acids. Used as solvents, lubricants, pharmaceuticals and sweeteners.
