Talc (Soap Stone) is the softest mineral known and formed by thermal metamorphism of siliceous dolomite rocks. It is having sheet structure of magnesium sandwiched between two layers of silica and the smooth water repellent surface of each particle slide against one another, resulting in soapy feel and exhibiting pearly luster. In Rajasthan state of India Talc is available in the region of Udaipur, Bhilwara, Jaipur and Dosa ranging color from white through various shades of Grey to green, red to brown, cream to yellow of impure specimens, translucent to opaque in appearance. It ranges in color from white to greenish gray or dark green wit whiteness ranges from 90~97 and brightness ranges from 90~95. It occurs as flakes while it has a greasy feel and a hardness of 1 to 1.5.
