Toughened glass is also referred to as "tempered glass" or "fully tempered glass". Toughened Safety Glass is fabricated by heating annealed glass to over 600�°C and cooling it down rapidly. It locks the outer surfaces of the glass in a state of high compression, and the core or center of the glass in compensating tension. It is a safety glass which is used when strength, thermal resistance and safety are all important factors in design. The strength of toughened glass is approximately 5 times stronger than annealed (non-safety) glass of the same thickness.
