The performance of starch ether in dry mortar is as follows
Due to the special chemical structure of starch ether, hydroxypropyl starch ether can effectively prevent the phenomenon of mortar thick layer hanging, and it has a good improvement effect on the bad phenomenon of tile sliding and thick layer hanging;
Adding appropriate amount of hydroxypropyl starch ether in mortar can delay the opening time of mortar. The water retention of starch ether can remain stable with the increase of temperature. Therefore, this product can not only improve the water retention performance of mortar, but also compensate the phenomenon that the water retention capacity of common water retention agent retains rapidly with the increase of temperature;

Hydroxypropyl Starch are a starch-based additive designed for dry mortars in the building industry. These starch ethers can improve the performance and optimize the workability of dry mortar by modifying the thickness and rheology of varied dry mortars based on cement and gypsum.� Starch� ether� should be used in combination with cellulose derivatives. It can well perform in neutral and alkaline conditions, and it is compatible with other additives in gypsum or cement-based building materials.
Starches can be modified in several ways to change their function as additives in products. They can be cross-linked, where the chains get stuck together into a mesh. They can be heated to break the long chainsdown into simpler molecules like dextrin, polydextrin and malto-dextrin. These are simply short starches. SODIUM CARBOXYMETHYL STARCH (CMS or SCMS) is a starch ether derivative derived from starch. It is soluble in water at room temperature and forms a transparent to light milky and viscous solution. CMS is an important modified starch with unique properties due to the presence of negatively charged functional group (CH2COO-). The introduction of carboxymethyl groups interrupts the ordered structure of native starch and intervenes with the re-association of gelatinized starch. This modification yields starch with decreased gelatinization temperature, increased solubility and improved storage stability. CMS is chemically processed carbohydrate typically derived from Native starch viz. Maize, Potato, Tapioca & Rice.
