We supply a wide range of technical, cosmetic and pharmaceutical grade liquid paraffins, for use in the area of personal care, adhesives and polymer modification. N-Paraffin Our EPISOL range of n-paraffins, are fully synthetic, and are produced by a unique technology involving the direct synthesis of CO and H2. Being synthetic, it is ultra-pure, water-white and characterized by the absence of nitrogen compounds, sulphur, aromatics and other impurities. Applications for this product range from the area of metal working to part of hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives (HMPSA) formulation. Overall, our EPISOL range of n-paraffins cover a range of viscosities, are of low toxicity and are readily biodegradable, specially suited for the environmentally conscious producer. White Oils: Sasol Wax’s Merkur and our in house EPOIL brands of pharmaceutical, cosmetic and technical grade white oils are available in various viscosities. These Merkur and EPOIL grades are suitable for use in personal care products, pharmaceutical balms and ointments, etc. Polymerisation Solvents: Our EPOIL range of hydrocarbon oils are highly pure, and can be used as diluents for catalysts in various industrial applications. They are inert and free of catalyst poisons like sulphur compounds, carbonyls, oxygenates, cyclic compounds, etc. Solvent-Solvent Extraction: Our range of EPOIL and EPISOL liquid paraffins are suitable for use as metal extraction diluents, especially in the area of solvent-solvent extraction. Chlorinated Paraffin: EPChem provides chlorinated paraffin products by NCP Chlorchem, which is a South African-based manufacturer. The products have chlorine content ranging from 45-55% under the brand of PLASTICLOR e.g. CP52. It is commonly used in PVC compounding to produce flexible PVC as well as in paints. They act as an effective plasticizer and flame retardant additive in paints.

Cosmetic grade of white oil is used in petroleum jelly, cold creams, hair oil and chlorinated paraffin wax. F liquid paraffin listed as one of the ingredients in a cream or lotion can be confusing for some peoples . Because paraffin is a product that is commonly used to make candles, which does not have anything to do with skin care. Deeper look at liquid paraffin will reveal that this common personal care ingredient is used in many skin products, including creams, lotions, lip balm, soap, and even eczema ointments. But what does liquid paraffin do, and more importantly, is it safe to use on the skin? To better understand this ingredient, lets take a deeper look atits role in skin care and the possible side effects it can induce.

White oil is also known as liquid paraffin wax, which is a highly refined mineral oils with characteristics of extremely pure, stable, colorless, odorless, non-toxic and chemically inert. These attributes make them perfect for any application that values these properties, such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and chemical processing. The term "white oil" is a misnomer, in that they are not white at all, but crystal clear. White oils can be produced from a variety of feedstocks, depending on the process used. These starting materials include conventional base stocks for the older acid treatment process to Vacuum Gas Oils (VGO) for the more currently widely used two stage hydrotreating method. Both processes produce colorless, odorless, tasteless oils where all components that might have any detrimental effects on their end usage, such as aromatics, sulphur or other impurities, have essentially been removed, resulting in a pure and thermally stable product Liquid paraffin has different flash points: 100, 120, 140 and 180, liquid paraffin (White oil) is produced for use in textile, spinning, industrial lubrication equipment, health products, produce clouds (polystyrene) according to its grades.
