GPPS Virgin Crystal
Chemical Name General Purpose Polystyrene
General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS) is used for industrial conversion as a raw material for manufacture of articles or goods. Typically easy flow and good clarity. It can be used for various applications including media enclosures, disposable cups, and blending with high impact polystyrene.
Product Introduction: GPPS plastic is a general-purpose polystyrene plastic. Polystyrene (PS) refers to a polymer synthesized by free radical polymerization of styrene monomers. Polystyrene mainly includes four types: ordinary polystyrene (GPPS), high impact polystyrene (HIPS), expanded polystyrene (EPS), and syndiotactic polystyrene (SPS). Essential information: Product Name GPPS Characteristic Glossy and transparent Category Polymer Manufacturing method Forming processing Security Product application: GPPS plastic is mainly used to manufacture transparent food boxes, fruit plates, small tableware, etc. It can also be made into shrink film for shrink packaging of food. Product Features: GPPS is a glossy and transparent particle. Lightweight, affordable, low water absorption, good coloring properties, dimensional stability, good electrical performance, transparent products, and easy processing. GPPS is soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, aliphatic ketones, and esters, but can only swell in acetone. Can withstand the action of certain mineral oils, organic acids, bases, salts, lower alcohols, and their aqueous solutions. Low water absorption rate, able to maintain its mechanical properties and dimensional stability in humid environments. Excellent electrical performance, high volume resistance and surface resistance, and not affected by temperature, humidity changes, or corona discharge. The radiation resistance is also very good. The main disadvantages of GPPS are its brittleness, low impact strength, poor heat resistance, inability to withstand boiling water, and can only be used at lower temperatures and loads. Poor resistance to sunlight and flammable. When burning, it turns black and has a special odor.
