Modal is a type of rayon, a semi-synthetic cellulose fiber made by spinning reconstituted cellulose, in this case often from beech trees. Modal is used alone or with other fibers (often cotton or spandex) in household items such as pajamas, towels, bathrobes, underwear & bed sheets.
It is cool to the touch and very absorbent. It takes and holds dye easily. Modal is less resistant to shrinkage than cotton and tends to pill less as a result of friction on the surface.
Modal fabrics are very soft, shiny nature and silky feel than mercerized cotton.

Changing the Spinning conditions, chemical solutions and stretching series of rayon fiber production method, modal fabric can be produced with greater strength and crystalline than rayon fiber modal is now made by many manufacturers. The textile has particularly taken off in Indian companies. it is slowly gaining ground as a clothing material as well, it is already widely used in clothing as a replacement for cotton.
