Lap joint flanges feature a flat face and are always used in conjunction with a stub end. Lap joint flanges resemble, in shape, slip-on flanges except for the radius at the crossing of the flange face and the bore to accommodate the flanged portion of the stub end. A lap joint flange slips over the pipe and seats on the back of the stub end and the two are kept together by the pressure of the bolts. The use of lap joint flanges in combination with stub ends is a cost-effective solution for stainless steel or nickel alloy pipelines, as the material of the lap joint flange can be of a lower grade (generally carbon steel) than the material of the stub end (which has to match the pipe grade, as in contact with the conveyed fluid). This arrangement, therefore, has these two advantages: reduces the overall cost of the pipelines flanged joints, as the use of higher grade materials is minimized; bolting operations are simplified, as the lap joint flange can be rotated around the pipe to help with bolts alignment.
Lap Joint flanges are used on piping fitted with lapped pipe or with lap joint stub ends. The lap joint flange with the stub end assembly are normally used in systems requiring frequent dismantling for inspection and cleaning and where the ability to swivel flanges and to align bolt holes materially eases the erection of large diameter or unusually stiff piping. These flanges are also used in applications where there is a need to facilitate bolt alignment. These type of flanges are similar to slip-on flanges. The only difference is that it has a curved radius at the bore and face to accommodate a lap joint stub end. They may be used at all pressures and are available in a full size range. These lap joint flanges slip over the pipe, and are not welded. They are otherwise fastened to it. Here the bolting pressure is transferred to the gasket by the pressure of the flange against the back of the pipe lap. These are as follows: Lap Joint flanges have the freedom to swivel around the pipe. This facilitates the lining up of opposing flange bolt holes. Lack of contact with the fluid inside the pipe leads to the greater durability of these flanges. In piping systems which corrode or erode quickly, the lap joint flanges may be salvaged for re-use. The pressure-holding capacity of lap joint flanges is little. But it is better than that of slip-on flanges. The Lap Joint works as a backing ring on the stub. The main advantage of lap joint flange is that the bolt holes can be aligned with the matching flange after the welds have been completed. They allow rotational alignment capability. A lap joint flange is a type of flange that is used in piping systems. It is made up of two parts: a stub end and a lap joint ring flange. The stub end is butt welded to the pipe, and the lap joint ring flange is then slid over the stub end. The flange ring has a flat face that is used to seal against the gasket. The lap joint flange has two components, one stub end, and loose backing flange. The end piece is welded end to end to the pipe and the support flange moves freely on the pipe. The support flange may be of different material from the stub material and normally of carbon steel to save cost. The cover flange is used when frequent disassembling is required, and space is limited. The flange of the lap joint is almost identical to a slip-on flange, except that it has a radius at the intersection of the bore and flange face. These flanges are nearly identical to a Slip On flange with the exception of a radius at the intersection of the flange face and the bore to accommodate the flanged portion of the Stub End. The lap joint flange is practically identical to a slip-on flange except it has a radius at the intersection of the bore and flange face. This radius is necessary to have the flange accommodate a lap joint stub end. Normally, a lap joint flange and a lap joint stub end are mated together is an assembly system. Sizes we make range from 1/2" to 64" (and much larger size according to customers' demands).

A ring joint flange is a type of flange that uses a metal ring to create a leak-proof seal between two pipes. The metal ring is placed in a groove on the face of the flange and is compressed when the bolts are tightened. This compression creates a tight seal that prevents the flow of fluids or gases between the pipes. They are used in a variety of applications where a high level of safety and reliability is required.
