Viscosity Bitumen Characterized by its viscosity grade, it's suitable for high-temperature
applications, ensuring stability and flexibility.
Bitumen Viscosity Grade
Standard Viscosity Grade Bitumen (AC-Grades), in which the Viscosity of the standard bitumen (asphalt) is measured at 60 C (140 F). RTFOT Viscosity Grade Bitumen (AR-Grades), in which the Viscosity of bitumen (asphalt) is measured at 60 C (140 F) after the roll on thin film oven test. Viscosity grade bitumen have a thermoplastic property which causes the material to soften at high temperatures and to harden at lower temperatures. This unique temperature/ viscosity relationship is important when determining the performance parameters such as the adhesion, rheology, durability and application temperatures of bitumen. In the Viscosity Graded Bitumen specifications further special emphasizes is placed on the Bitumen ductility.
To grade the bitumen-based on viscosity BIS revised IS-73-1992 specifications (Viscosity at 60 C) and as such there are four grades VG-10, VG-20, VG-30 & VG-40. A few qualification tests like specific gravity, water content, ductility, loss on heating & fares breaking point were removed from IS:73-1992 as these tests do not have any relationship with the performance of the product. Viscosity Grade Bitumen is widely used in spraying applications such as surface-dressing and paving in very cold climates. It is also used to manufacture bitumen emulsion and modified bitumen products.
VG-20 bitumen is a grade of viscosity bitumen used in cold climatic and high altitude regions. This grade of bitumen is suitable for road construction in regions with 30 to 37 C average temperature. In North India, vg20 is used for road construction in hot mix asphalt. The standard penetration value of bitumen viscosity grade VG-20 is 60 mm at 25 C. The absolute viscosity of VG-20 bitumen is 1600 to 2400 poise at 60 C.
VG10 bitumen is the softest grade of viscosity bitumen. This type of bitumen is widely used for spraying applications and surface coating. VG 10 bitumen means that your bitumen is also suitable for paving roads in a very cold climate instead of the old 80/100 penetration grade. The air temperature that matches VG10 bitumen ranges from -10 ¢?¦C to 25 ¢?¦C. Due to the high temperatures in hot climatic zones, the application of VG10 cannot provide desirable rutting resistance. This type of bitumen is also used to manufacture bitumen emulsions and modified bitumen products especially in India. As a viscosity grade bitumen, VG10 has a better performance incold weather. VG40 bitumen is used in areas in which high pressure comes from heavy traffic loads, such as intersections, near tolls booths, and truck parking lots. Due to the high viscosity of this bitumen, it is more appropriate for improving resistance to shoving and other problems associated with higher temperatures and heavy traffic loads. It's long time that industries use vg-40 instead of the penetration grade bitumen 40/50.

Bitumen Primer * Bitumen Primer is Bituminous air curing ready mixed Acid & Alkali resistant special primer. Application * Concrete surface must be clean, dry and rough. No primer should be applied over smooth and wet surface. * After cleaning the concrete surface, one coat of Bitumen Primer should be applied with brush and allow to dry thoroughly. * The drying time will depend upon the temperature. * 24 Month at the temperature 30C (+2OC) Packing * Bitumen Primer: 25 Liter Drum Note * Bitumen Primer contains volatile and slightly toxic solvent. Keep away from spark and open flames at working area. * Bitumen premier it is manufactured using bitumen solution which is used for sealing of prime porous and non-porous surface, and also to protect residential and commercial building. * Bitumen Primer is used to protect substrate against corrosive attack, is suggested to apply anti-corrosive primer. It is best for protection against sub-striate against atmospheric corrosion and chemical corrosion. It is a mixed substance made up of organic liquids that are highly sticky, water proof, viscous, acid proof as with all surface coating, good Bitumen Premier is used for long life of the system. it is applied by brush or roller and allowed to dry before any water proofing treatment so to avoid solvent it is used in defects such as cracks, broken mortar joints, etc. are to be repaired prior to Bitumen primer application.
