GFT-01 Flex Durability Tester Background A pivotal characteristic of flexible barrier materials is their resistance to repetitive strain, commonly referred to as flex durability or Gelboflex resistance. A strong resistance to flex cracking is paramount as it reduces the likelihood of package perforation during distribution, thus ensuring package integrity. Application The Flex Durability Tester, also recognized as Gelboflex, evaluates the capability of materials such as films, composites, and coating films to endure repetitive strain. It quantifies flex failure by identifying potential pinholes in the sample structure. Optimal flex crack resistance is crucial as it diminishes the possibility of packaging developing perforations during distribution, thereby upholding the package's integrity throughout its journey. This aspect is indispensable for safeguarding the contents within. Standards Our Flex Durability Tester adheres to the ASTM F392 standard for assessing the flex durability of flexible barrier materials. Sampling and Motion Within the Flex Tester, a sample measuring 200 by 280 mm is securely fastened to the mandrels. The flexing process entails a combination of twisting and horizontal compression, subjecting the film to these actions repeatedly. Specifically, the setup initiates a twisting motion spanning 440 degrees within the first 90 mm of the stroke, followed by a linear horizontal motion of 65 mm. This entire cycle operates at a speed of 45 cycles per minute. Users can choose from five pre-programmed test conditions: - Mode A Full flex for 1 hour (2,700 cycles) - Mode B Full flex for 20 minutes (900 cycles) - Mode C Full flex for 6 minutes (270 cycles) - Mode D Full flex for 20 cycles - Mode E Partial flex for 20 cycles Technical Features Our system boasts PLC control complemented by an intuitive HMI touch screen interface. It offers five standard test modes and encompasses four test stations. Users benefit from the ability to swiftly switch between long and short stroke modes. Furthermore, the system facilitates the selection of test conditions A, B, C, D, and E. Additionally, it features a microprinter for seamless data output.
